The husk from your coffee beans is a valuable resource, far too precious to be wasted in landfill. We collect this by-product (known as "chaff") to ensure it’s repurposed in sustainable ways, whether that’s for composting or being utilised in innovative projects. This not only prevents unnecessary waste but also contributes valuable nitrogen and carbon to the soil.

How Does Chaff Collection Work?

Based on your previous chaff production, we’ll assess how often we need to visit you for collection. We provide easy-to-use bags to store the chaff until we pick it up. Whether it’s dry, wet, or compressed, we’ll take it all, as it’s all excellent for the garden.

What Happens to the Chaff?

We donate all collected chaff to local community groups, schools, or home gardeners. It’s used to improve compost, enrich the soil, and support sustainable local food production.

Why Don’t We Want Chaff in Landfill?

A circular economy is all about making the most of our resources, reducing waste, and enhancing the value of what we use. Chaff can be repurposed in numerous ways, such as returning directly to the soil as mulch or compost.

Diverting chaff from landfill prevents the harmful greenhouse gases it would release as it decomposes. Instead of contributing to environmental harm, we give it a second life by using it to support healthier soil and plants.

Why Do we charge for collection?

Like any business, waste collection comes with a cost, but redirecting this waste to support the local community is an easy decision.

We are a social enterprise. When coffee roasters partner with us, they’re not only making a positive impact on the environment but also supporting a movement that benefits everyone, rather than just a select few.

we currently only collect from london based businesses
