GoodGround is a London collection service for coffee grounds and chaff. We collect from cafés, roasters, offices and hotels on a fixed weekly schedule in sealed, weighed caddies - then send every kilo to certified composting, not an incinerator or a digester.

Grounds are the heaviest thing in your bin, and since March 2025 all businesses with 10+ staff must separate food waste by law. We take that off your hands, keep you compliant, and send you a quarterly report showing exactly how much you diverted and where it went.

Some of what we collect goes to London mushroom growers. The finished compost comes back to community gardens and green spaces across the city. Your customers get to hear about it.

From £20 per week.

What we do

Coffee grounds are the heaviest thing in your bin

UK hospitality produces hundreds of thousands of tonnes of spent coffee grounds a year. Most of it is thrown in with general waste and incinerated, or mixed into food waste and sent to a digester for biogas. Both recover something. Neither returns anything to the soil.

Grounds are nitrogen-rich, and composted properly they become a genuine soil improver. That only works if they're kept separate — once they're mixed with other food waste, composting is off the table.

You're already required to separate them

Since March 2025, every workplace in England with 10 or more full-time-equivalent staff must separate food waste from general waste. Coffee grounds count. Businesses with fewer than 10 staff have until March 2027.

We handle that for you: sealed caddies, a fixed weekly schedule, all duty-of-care paperwork, and a record of every kilo collected.

And it should cut your bill

Waste is charged by weight, and wet grounds are the heaviest, densest thing you throw away. Taking them out of your general waste reduces what you're charged for it. You're paying for collection either way - this way you know where it goes.

Where it actually goes

Every collection is weighed at your door. A share goes fresh to London mushroom growers, who use grounds as a growing substrate. The rest goes to certified composting, where it becomes PAS 100 soil improver — some of which we bring back to community gardens and green spaces across London each spring.

You get a quarterly report showing your kilos, your destinations, and your carbon saving. Most of our customers put it on their website.

From £20 per week.
